Weekly Lessons
Policies
I - Offer
Definition
Weekly lessons are regular lessons that take place every week, except in case of occasional unavailability.
Service
The student will receive:
-
The chosen number of lessons per week;
-
Access to a personal online folder;
-
An online customisable worksheet for each lesson;
-
Personalised pace, content, teaching style, exercises and study advice.
Suitability
Weekly lessons are especially suitable for people with a regular schedule who want to progress steadily.
Days and times
Weekly lessons are scheduled for the same day and time each week, except in cases when rescheduling is necessary due to occasional unavailability.
Length of time
Each lesson lasts one hour total:
-
55 minutes of actual teaching;
-
5 minutes to accommodate any minor delays in starting or joining the meeting, as well as the teacher's transition time between meetings.
Payment
Weekly lessons are sold in 5-week subscription plans.
Three subscription options are offered:
-
One hour per week;
-
Two hours per week;
-
Three hours per week.
If a student wants more than three hours per week, a customised plan can be arranged upon request.
Prices
-
One hour per week: £50 per hour
-
Two hours per week: £45 per hour
-
Three hours per week: £40 per hour
Validity
-
Each 5-week subscription cycle payment covers the lessons planned within that period (Monday of the first week through Sunday of the fifth week).
-
Lessons from a cycle may be used or rescheduled within a flexible window of 5 weeks after their originally scheduled date.
II - Enquiry
First contact
-
The student makes an enquiry by any means they prefer. A formal enquiry form is available on the website.
-
Required information in the enquiry:
-
Contact details;
-
Number of people wishing to take private lessons;
-
Current estimated level and experience of learning French for each person;
-
Goals and reasons for learning French.
-
Assessment
-
The student will complete a brief assessment before enrolling. This will typically be conducted as a 10–15 minute phone call.
-
During the assessment, the teacher will informally evaluate the student’s current knowledge through a short conversation in French. This is not a full, detailed assessment -the purpose is for the teacher to understand the student's starting point and to design suitable initial lessons. The teacher will further adapt lesson content as the student's learning progresses.
-
If the student has no previous experience learning French, no assessment will be needed.
Number of hours per week
-
The student is given the prices for one, two, or three lessons per week and chooses the preferred subscription plan.
-
If more hours per week are requested, a custom plan will be offered.
Days and times
The student and teacher will agree on a regular day and time for lessons.
Starting date
-
The student and teacher will agree on a starting date.
-
The starting date is always the Monday of the week the student wishes to begin.
III - Enrolment
First cycle payment
-
Once the starting date and the regular days and times for the lessons are set, the teacher will direct the student to the relevant pricing plan on the website and pre-book the chosen slots for three working days.
-
If no payment is made after these three days, the teacher will cancel the pre-booking and re-open the slots.
-
Once payment is received, the teacher will confirm the booking by scheduling the lessons and sending an enrolment email with details on how to access meetings and study materials.
-
If the student's starting date is more than one week away, the teacher will pause the subscription after the first payment and resume it on the Monday before the start date (one week before lessons begin). Since the system will charge the student every five weeks automatically, this pause ensures that the payment covers the period the students will have lessons, without counting the gap between the enquiry and the actual start.
Subsequent payments
Each subsequent payment after the first will be taken automatically every five weeks, up until one week before the new cycle begins.
Failed payments
-
If a payment fails, the student has three working days to provide an alternative payment method supported by the website’s system.
-
If no valid payment method is provided within this period, lessons may be terminated.
IV - Attendance
No-show
-
All no-shows will be charged. The teacher will wait 15 minutes; if the student has not joined after this period, the lesson will be marked as a no-show.
Cancellation
-
Once paid, a 5-week cycle is non-refundable.
-
Any cancellation by the student, at any time, will be forfeited.
-
Any cancellation by the teacher will be compensated either by:
-
Additional lesson material in the student’s online folder, or
-
A make-up lesson scheduled at a later date, according to the student’s availability.
-
Rescheduling
-
The student may request to reschedule a lesson at any time. Providing at least 48 hours’ notice is preferable, but does not guarantee availability. The teacher will do her best to accommodate requests, but rescheduling is subject to her (usually limited) availability, so a new slot is not guaranteed.
-
If no suitable time can be offered and the student cannot attend, the original lesson will be treated as cancelled and forfeited.
-
A rescheduled lesson must take place within 5 weeks of the original lesson date and within a paid 5-week cycle. In the unlikely event that a rescheduled lesson falls outside of a paid cycle (for example, if the student takes a break or terminates lessons with sufficient notice and the rescheduled lesson would occur after lessons are officially finished), the lesson will not be rescheduled again and will be forfeited.
-
Unless in exceptional circumstances, each lesson may only be rescheduled once. If the student cannot attend the rescheduled time, the lesson will be treated as cancelled and forfeited.
Lateness
-
The student and the teacher will be considered late if joining the lesson more than 5 minutes after the scheduled time.
-
If the student is late for a lesson, then the lesson will be reduced in length accordingly, although forfeited in full.
-
If the teacher is late, the missed time will be made up at a mutually agreed-upon time.
Teacher time off
-
The teacher will communicate holiday dates as early as possible.
-
The teacher will pause the student’s subscription during her holidays so no charges are incurred.
Pausing lessons
-
The student may request to pause their lessons for up to 5 weeks per break, with a maximum of one break per calendar year. No lesson fees will be charged during the break.
-
There must be a minimum of six months between two breaks.
-
Breaks longer than 5 weeks will be treated as a termination of lessons; the student must submit a new enquiry upon returning, as the reserved slot may be offered to another student.
-
Any additional break beyond the permitted one per year will be treated as a cancellation, and unused lessons in the relevant 5-week period will be forfeited.
-
To pause lessons, the student must provide at least 5 weeks' advance notice before the intended start of the break. This ensures proper scheduling and secures their reserved slots. Breaks requested without sufficient notice will be treated as cancellations for that period, and lessons will be forfeited.
-
A return date must be agreed upon before the break begins. If the student wants a break, but does not provide the return date, then their slots can’t be kept and the break will be treated as a termination.
-
The fee for the next 5-week period must be paid before the end of the current period, as for uninterrupted lessons. This advance payment reserves the student’s regular slot until their return.
V - Termination
Ending lessons
-
Should the student wish to stop lessons, at least 5 weeks’ notice must be given to avoid charges for the next five-week period.
-
Where less than 5 weeks’ notice is given, the next period will be billed in full, and unattended lessons in the current period are non-refundable.
